About this Parachute
Story
Hi! Our school is trying to go green and our students really want to help the environment. We are a K-12, Title I charter school located in a very challenged socioeconomic area of southwest Chicago. Many of our students suffer from asthma due to the poor air quality in our community and lack of green spaces. For the last few years, I have been sponsoring our "ECO Club" for students interested in helping the environment. We held a fundraiser to purchase blue paper recycling bins for each classroom, created ECO Pledges for teachers to sign so they would be held accountable for cutting down on their paper usage and recycling in the classrooms. We have also held Earth Day park clean-ups and began collecting plastic caps for a recycled bench right before the pandemic. Currently, we would like to begin a "Roots and Shoots" program as well. We have some very creative and artistic students who are passionate about educating others about the climate crisis and we would like to have at least 5 parachutes donated to our school if you can spare them. We promise to reuse them and participate as much as possible in the parachute days.
