About this Parachute
Story
The NFTY-MAR community is one that engages Jewish teens from 8th grade to 12th grade from the Maryland area all the way to North Carolina. We meet for weekends together 4 times each year, learning about social justice and Judaism as a whole. Judaism is a religion that embraces the idea of tikkun olam, or repairing the Earth. This parachute allowed us to embody that ideal and represent creative freedom at the same time.
Sustainable Actions in this Community
At this weekend long event at Judea Reform Congregation, we limited our food waste by providing compost throughout the entire weekend. We also have legislation in our region that enforces us to limit the amount of food waste we have at events, so we are constantly remains conscientious of our waste and environmental footprint.
