MEP is in the process of installing an edition of Mother Earth sculptures in major cities around the world. In 2017, MEP intends to place Mother Earth in five countries and another 30 countries are interested. Below is a chronicle of activities in various countries.
United States of America top
The Mother Earth sculpture made its debut on January 19, 2017. It is located in Georgetown, Washington, DC, on the Potomac River. It was installed the day before the US Presidential Inauguration, as a proud reminder of this country’s focus on sustainability. The dedication of this sculpture is Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 10am, the same day as the Climate March.
Installation of Mother Earth Sculpture
Benin is planning to install the Mother Earth sculpture in 2017. More details to follow.
The capital city of Yaoundé plans to install the Mother Earth sculpture in 2017. The city plans to celebrate the arrival of the sculpture by inviting local environment-focused groups and government officials.
The city of Bonn hopes to install the Mother Earth sculpture in time for the United Nations COP23 conference, that it is hosting in November, 2017. The sculpture will be placed strategically near the United Nations building.
Israel plans to install the Mother Earth sculpture in Jerusalem in 2017. It will be placed in the Bloomfield Gardens, a few blocks south of the King David Hotel, and next to the famous Montefiore Windmill. Dedication information will be shared shortly.
The city of Naples is interested in placing the Mother Earth sculpture along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in 2017. More details to follow.
